Diatx®Zn Product Description
Diatx®Zn is a prescription renal vitamin specifically created to address elevated homocysteine levels and replenish the vitamins lost through dialysis. Diatx®Zn contains 5mg folic acid, 2mg B12, 50mg B6 and additional vitamins and minerals needed by ESRD patients on dialysis.
Over 90% of ESRD patients have elevated homocysteine, which is a major risk factor for cardiovascular complications:
- For every 10 µmol/L increase in homocysteine the risk for fatal cardiovascular complications increases by 20%. [1]
- An increase as little as 1 µmol/L in homocysteine results in a 4% increase in the risk for access thrombosis. [2]
- Elevated homocysteine is an independent risk factor for access thrombosis.
Diatx®Zn contains 5mg folic acid, 2mg B12 and 50mg B6 - the cofactors needed to address elevated homocysteine.
